Pediatric spay and neuter have been done by some veterinarians in the hope to lessen unwanted or stray pets in some countries like in the US. Some do not agree based on some historical reasons, but in general and as observed by many distinguished veterinarians, pediatric spay and neuter may even be more beneficial as the procedure can be done faster with fewer complications.

Last 17th January 2018, the Makati Veterinary Services Office (VSO) with the assistance of Plaridel Products and Services, Inc. continued its city-wide microchipping program at Barangay Kasilawan and Pinagkaisahan.

The veterinary services officer started implanting microchips around 9 am until 3 pm. Dogs and cats qualified for microchipping must be at least 4 months of age, with a body weight of not less than 750 grams, with updated rabies vaccination reflected on its vaccination card and the owner must present a valid ID for reference.

Makati City has formally launched its citywide pet microchipping program—the first in Southeast Asia—aimed at animal identification, pet recovery and rabies prevention.

More than 30,000 cats and dogs from 27 barangays and six villages will be implanted with PET iCHIP by representatives of the city’s Veterinary Services Offices (VSO) over the next few months.
